What is stress?
When we talk about stress, we usually mean psychological stress triggered by external stimuli. A stress trigger leads to the release of stress hormones such as adrenaline or cortisol, which results in a short-term increase of blood pressure and elevated blood sugar levels.
This hormone release enables us to perform at a high physical level, which we usually do not live out in modern everyday life. The stress phase should be followed by a regeneration phase to calm the body back down.
8 possible signs of stress:
- inner restlessness
- increased irritability
- tension
- concentration problems
- weight gain or loss
- sleep problems
